WARNING! Spoilers Ahead!
Stranger Things has been for years one of the most popular Netflix original productions, created by the Duffer Brothers, the first season of the show was released back in July 2016. The latest season of the show, season 3, was released in July 2019. And now that three years have passed, we are finally getting a new season, and we’ll see the Hawkins gang back together after so long. With Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown), Mike (Finn Wolfhard), Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo), Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin), Will (Noah Schnapp), and Max (Sadie Sink) all coming back, it will surely bring back some memories.
But three years can be a really long time, and with all the great shows we’ve seen in those years, it’s easy to lose track of where we left things in Stranger Things season three. So, just for you, we’ve made a shortlist
of everything you need to know before watching Stranger Things season 4
Eleven has no powers
One of the things that completely change the way the show works is that El no longer has her powers. After the big battle with the Mind Flayer at Starcourt Mall at the end of season 3, El managed to deliver a lot of damage to the creature, but it ended up getting inside El’s leg. When she finally managed to pull it out, she lost her powers. Now she has to learn to be without them or maybe work out a way to get them back.
The gang is separated
Likewise, with all that happened up until the end of season 3, Joyce Byer (Winona Ryder) decided to take her sons Will and Jonathan (Charlie Heaton) and finally leave Hawkins for good. Eleven joins them to leave all the horrible events behind. As they leave for California, Mike assures El he’s going to visit her, and so he does so we have him away in Cali at the beginning of the season. Meanwhile, Max mourns the death of his brother, after he gave his life in a crazy redemption arc, while she now has levitating powers because of reasons. And Mike, Dustin, and Lucas still hang out together.
While we did see how Hopper got vaporized in an attempt to stop the evil Russians by blowing up their Upside-Down machine, all hope seemed lost for the guy. It was devastating for everyone, but especially to El and Joyce, the characters who were closer to him. But everything seems to point out that the man is still alive in season 4, and that a mere deadly explosion and dying could not stop him. This one’s a really tough guy.
What happened to Steve and Robin?
Remember Steve (Joe Keery)? He was the cool bad guy in the first season, but in one of the most interesting arcs in the show, he evolved into being one of the main parts of the gang, in an unexpected turn of events. He ended up being great friends with Dustin especially, and as he got a job at Scoops Ahoy, where he met Robin (Maya Hawke) and got a crush on her. But as he confessed to her she actually confessed she actually liked a girl. Of course, with Star court Mall destroyed they had to find a new job. Now they are employees at Family Video, a movie rental store.
Everything’s normal in Hawkins now… Right?
Not at all, a new threat is haunting the little town of Hawkins, and maybe even the world if no one stops it. This could be the definitive battle, and the biggest threat to come out of the Upside Down. But we’ll leave it here for now, as this is one of the main parts of what could be the most exciting season of them all in Stranger Things!
This fourth season of Stranger things brings us more action, mystery, and suspense than ever before. We’re sure it will be a blast!
